DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival – transfer to your hotel
Upon arrival at Kigali Airport, you will be met by our representative who will then transfer you
to your hotel in Kigali.
Hotel: 2000 Hotel Kigali (Standard)

Day 2: Kigali – Visit Kibeho – Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Today morning after your breakfast, your guide will meet you at the hotel and will transfer you
to Kibeho town where you will visit the Kibeho shrines.
Later transfer to Nyungwe Forest, one of the largest forests in East and Central Africa.
The forest is abundant with flora and fauna including 13 primate species from colobus
monkeys, mangabeys, blue monkeys and, of course, our cousins the chimpanzees.
Nyungwe Forest is also a famous location for birders. With about 310 recorded bird species, 26
of which are endemic, this is one of the most important and still little known bird watching
destinations in Africa. Dinner and overnight at your booked lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy walk in Nyungwe forest
Have a morning breakfast then head out on a trek to find chimpanzees in Nyungwe National
Park. You will be entitled to a 1-hour stay on finding the chimpanzees. After doing the
chimpanzee trek, you will have lunch and then head for a Canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest.

Day 4: Exit Nyungwe forest – Transfer to Lake Kivu
After breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Kivu for relaxation.

Day 5: Church mass – Boat ride on Lake Kivu – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast you will check-out and go for Church mass at Cathedral Nyundo.
Later, you will enjoy a boat trip on Lake Kivu for the Hot springs experience and later transfer
to Volcanoes National Park.

Day 6: Mount Bisoke Hike in Volcanoes National park

Wake up early reaching the Kinigi Park Offices by 7:00 AM just in time for the morning briefing
and registration before proceeding to the head trail – the Mt Bisoke hike starting point. With
packed lunch and hiking gear,
With your guides and porters start hike to the top of this volcano, enjoy lunch uphill before
retrieving the starting point; meet up with your guide for drop off at either a hotel.
Have dinner and overnight as you prepare for gorilla trekking o the next day.
Mount Bisoke volcano is a dormant volcano part of the 8 volcanoes of the Virunga conservation
region of East and Central Africa. Mount Bisoke stands at 3,711 meters with a Crater Lake and
beautiful vegetation at the summit.
Hiking mount Bisoke is a 1 day hike which requires good fitness and it’s a tough steep hike and
advisable to take a porter to help carry your water and day pack.

Day 7: Golden Monkey Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, report to the park headquarters for your first experience endangered species in
the Volcanoes National Park. The golden monkey trek is normally an easy trek that takes 1-2
hours. Later, visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park –

You will start with an early breakfast before you set out for the long awaited day, our tour guide
will lead you to the park headquarters for a briefing session at the park headquarters before
heading off with your ranger guides to the starting point, which might be a short driving
distance then commence the memorable gorilla tracking experience, the most thrilling wildlife
encounter Africa has to offer.
You will be hike to find the gentle and awesome mountain gorillas and after finding them, you
will have a full hour with them, take photographs and enjoys the antics of baby gorillas as they
swing from one tree to another and as they tease each other including the silverback.
We later get back to where our hike started and drive to our lodge probably in time for lunch.

Day 9: Transfer to Akagera National Park – Boat trip on Lake Ihema –

After breakfast, you will transfer from Volcanoes National Park to Akagera National Park
through Kigali. On arrival at the park, we shall proceed to our accommodation.
We order lunch and later take a boat trip on Lake Ihema to watch Hippos and crocodiles in the
water or by the shores.

Day 10: Full Day Game Drives in AKagera National Park –

Enjoy early morning breakfast and start your game drives in an open-roofed vehicle. A full day
game drive here offers you an opportunity to spot a variety of game including elephants,
buffalos, hippos, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi,
bush baby, leopard, and bushbuck, etc. Proceed for an evening game drive after lunch. Return
to your lodge for dinner.

Day 11: Transfer from Akagera National Park to Kigali

Have breakfast and then enjoy a morning game drive, we shall return to Kigali and you will
check in at the lodge or be dropped at the airport for your departure flight.
