Refined and romantic environments, good wine and good organic food, totally immersed in Nature
There is an enchanted place in Sicily that has always been devoted to the cultivation of vines and olive trees and the production of quality wine.
A place preserved by man with respect for Nature in which a 17th century farmhouse stands. Over time, the hamlet expanded to become a true Baglio, in which the enclosure walls became a protective embrace for all the families who work there cultivating the land and harvesting its fruits. Today, that place is a charming relais where you can regenerate immersed in the most authentic Nature of Sicily.
Baglio Occhipinti is a charming place where twelve rooms, renovated respecting the territory and the original architecture, allow guests to live a complete experience of well-being and regeneration. Here, Nature is not just a backdrop, but is the mother that generates the fruits on which to feed. Baglio Occhipinti is also a totally organic farm, so the concept of wellbeing starts from cultivation and arrives at the table in the rediscovery of traditional recipes.
A Sicilian baglio in Val di Noto reinvented by Fausta Occhipinti. At Baglio Occhipinti, a charming relais in the Val di Noto, the olive trees create the natural setting in which to enjoy the slow rhythm of nature in a refined setting amidst meadows and rows of vines.
Nestled in an estate of over ten hectares in the province of Ragusa. Inside the Baglio, silver chandeliers and silverware, handmade ceramics and cushions with precious weaves, antique furniture and stone walls create the space of welcome. Baglio Occhipinti is a country house, noble and proud, where hostess Fausta
Occhipinti, landscape architect and Sicilian hospitality entrepreneur, moves with graceful elegance.

10:00 am Agrigento & Valley of Temples Tour

As well as being one of the oldest Sicilian cities, it’s also remarkable for having risen again from the ashes several times. Its showpiece is undoubtedly the Valley of the Temples which, with its ties to the classical world, displays one of the city’s most fascinating sides, together with extraordinary finds housed in the Museo Archeologico Regionale.

The city, founded in 581 BC by Greek colonists from Rhodes and Crete, became Akràgas in the following century. In the past, it used to be one of the most magnificent centres in the Mediterranean. In 1997, UNESCO therefore placed the Archaeological Area of Agrigento on its list of world heritage sites. The remains of Agrigentum include the of the villas of the nobility and the orderly streets of the Hellenistic/Roman Quarter.
A short walk along Via AteneaThe historic centre extends up the Colle di Girgenti hill; its main arteries are the Via Atenea and the nearby and panoramic Viale della Vittoria, with its views over the valley (Valley of the Temples) and the sea. As you walk you can indulge in a little shopping in the boutiques and shops, not forgetting to try the famous gelato pecorino in the cafés and patisseries

This is a delicately-flavoured ice cream made from sheep’s milk ricotta cheese. Its flavour is unique; it’s a genuine, little-known product typical of the Agrigento area. After this, you enter the maze of small streets, based on an Arab plan, which connect the oldest monuments.

The Cattedrale di San Gerlando was founded around the end of the 11th century by Bishop Gerlando. The cathedral is in Norman-Gothic style and is accessed by a wide, gentle staircase, flanked by a magnificent, unfinished 15th-century bell tower.

The building houses the extremely precious Cathedral Treasury, which is particularly rich in works of art. You can climb the bell tower and admire the roofs of Girgenti from above. The cathedral’s historical archives contain a document as singular as it is mysterious: the letter of the devil, a 17th-century manuscript written in indecipherable characters and addressed to a nun, the Beata Corbera mentioned by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa in his novel, The Leopard. Travel back in time at the Valley of the Temples.

The ancient city of Akragas (Agrigento) was founded by the Greeks, who built imposing temples in a green valley, now UNESCO- listed for having the best-preserved temples outside of Greece. The archaeological site lies 3 km below the actual city.

Stroll along the 2 km-long pathway amongst olive trees and admire the ruins of the temple of Hercules, the huge temple of Zeus, the still intact temple of Concordia, and the Demeter and Kore sanctuary.
Along the way, you can also visit old necropolises, a hypogeum, and an Art Nouveau villa.

11:30 am

Explore Agrigento and the legendary Valley of the Temples, where the remains of seven Doric temples stand in a breathtaking setting of almond groves and olive trees! Visit the incomparable Temple of Juno built on the top of the hill and affording spectacular views of the countryside, coastline and sea. Take a walk to see the impressive fortifications and Byzantine arcosolia (arched recesses for tombs). Continue your exploration of Agrigento’s other great temples, including the perfectly proportioned and wonderfully preserved Temple of Concordia, the Temple of Heracles, the Temple of Zeus—the largest Doric temple ever built—and the Temple of the Dioscuri. Learn about the fascinating secrets of their construction, the brilliant civilization that gave rise to them, and about the men who made ancient Akragas, “the most beautiful of mortal cities.”

Tuesday · March 25th
Breakfast at Villa
07:30 Start Time Lunch will also be available for purchase for anyone staying behind.

11:00 am Visit to Marina Ragusa (Bring your bathing suit and towel)

Marina di Ragusa, a seaside hamlet of Ragusa, was a fishing village in ancient times. It still preserves an old area called Mazzarelli, which is nowadays its lively centre rich in pubs, coffee bars and restaurants. There is also a beach area to enjoy,
The beach La Mancina, located near the tourist port, is a free beach perfect for young people who love playing sports: it is very wide and equipped with beach fields. There are several bars by the beach to enjoy a coffee break or a happy hour. There is also a beach club, “La Ola Beach”, where you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas.
Walk around the city centre of Marina di Ragusa and discover its most typical corners.
Of the old seaside hamlet, the town preserves the Tower Cabrera, located south of Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi and overlooking the promenade Lungomare Andrea Doria. It is a lookout tower dating back to the sixteenth century, but what we can see now are only the walls of the basis. North of the central square, there is the Church of Santa Maria di Portosalvo, dating back to the ‘30s of the last century.
Nearby the Tower Cabrera there was an old port, where now is Piazza della Dogana: here you can still recognize a typical small dock used for little boats.
Do not miss a boat ride: the port houses some agencies where you can book boat excursions, also with a skipper, and choose different tours, such as trips with cocktail on board or a boat tour of the filming locations of Inspector Montalbano. You can also rent rafts, pedalos and other water sport equipment. If you want to test yourself with something different from the usual beach day, try a sailing sport: you can take sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing lessons or stand-up-paddle boarding (SUP) lessons at different levels. It will be a truly unique experience!
The tourist port of Marina di Ragusa, which rises in an area once occupied by the ancient Scalo Trapanese, is one of the main tourist ports in Sicily with its eight hundreds dockings.
Visit the area of the port, a very popular attraction for those who stay in Marina di Ragusa. There are restaurants, coffee bars, and shops. A great place for a stroll and to get lunch.

Arrive in Ragusa, a hilltop city in Southeastern Sicily. Start the tour of Ragusa visiting Ibla, the old town, home to many Baroque buildings, like the Duomo of San Giorgio, a grand church with paintings and stained-glass windows and a rival to Modica’s Cathedral (of the same name). There are sweeping views from the Giardino Ibleo, a public park with churches and fountains. You will visit several artisans who are keeping traditions alive, including lace-making and the time honored tradition of the ornate Sicilian donkey carts!

3pm Ragusa Tour

Ragusa Ibla rises in the heart of Val di Noto. It is known for its magnificent baroque buildings and churches, wich are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
During our tour we will discover the town’s architectural beauties through a visit to the amazing San Giorgio church and admiring the typical sicilian balcony decorations wich ornates Palazzo Cosentini. We will show you the ruins of Portale San Giorgio that survived to the 1693 earthquake. We will finish with a relaxing walk through the elegant Giardino Ibleo, The public gardens which were the favorite meeting point of the local aristocracy.

11:00 am Day Trip to Taormina

What do Goethe, Alexander Dumas, Johannes Brahms, Gustav Klimt, D.H. Lawrence, Richard Wagner, Oscar Wilde, Truman Capote, John Steinbeck, Ingmar Bergmann, Francis Ford Coppola, Leonard Bergman, Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo, Federico Fellini, Cary Grant, Gregory Peck, Elisabeth Taylor and Woody Allen have in common?
Simple – they have all sojourned in Taormina, the pearl of the Mediterranean.
Idyllically perched on a rocky promontory high above the sea, Taormina has been the most popular tourist destination in Sicily for a couple of hundred of years, ever since it became an integral part of the Grand Tour. Beautifully restored medieval buildings, breathtaking views around every corner and a giddy network of winding streets strewn with shops, bars and restaurants make for a perfect holiday spot.
Spend the afternoon exploring on your own. Catch an early dinner before we head back to the beautiful Baglio Occipinti.

1:30 pm Guided Walking Tour of Taormina

Meeting Point
Ancient Greek-roman Theater

Taormina is certainly on the podium of the most charming and iconic locations in the whole of Sicily.
The guided tour begins at the beautiful Ancient Greek-roman Theater, a symbol of Taormina in the world.. It was carved into the mountain and from here you can enjoy a breathtaking view overlooking the Ionian Sea and with the volcano Mount Etna in the background.
Next we reach Palazzo Corvaia in a purely Gothic style, the most famous palace in Taormina. The tour continues near Porta Catania with Palazzo Duchi di Santo Stefano , also in Gothic style, and the Baroque-style Church of San Giuseppe.
The tour ends at the Taormina Cathedral built around 1400 on the ruins of a small medieval church dedicated to St. Nicholas of Bari and probably a preexisting pagan church.

Notes
During his trip to Sicily, Stanley Tucci reserves a day to visit the vineyard of Arianna Occhipinti. Arianna’s wines delight the palates of foodies and gourmand from all over the world. Arianna’s story is very interesting. It starts like thousands of other Sicilian stories. A young smart professionals that leaves the island to build a career in a land of better opportunities. If thousands go, hundreds come back. Arianna belongs to the latter group. Her love for Sicily couldn’t keep her away for too long. She came back to Vittoria and started her own wine making business. As Stanley says ‘Sicilian aren’t easy to be celebrated on their own’. They often need a blend to have more elegant results. But Arianna’s wines prove that passion and knowledge can turn a reputation upside down. Delicacy is the keyword.

Modica is surprising, elegant, and mysterious. The best way to explore this town is on foot. You can enjoy walking its stairways, getting lost in the maze of alleyways, and overlooking its viewpoints. You’ll need a lot of energy: luckily Modica is also the Sicilian homeland of chocolate. Modica Bassa is the town’s meeting place and where our journey begins. The Church of San Pietro is a landmark.
Strolling along Corso Umberto I, you will see the many shops and taverns, delicious restaurants, and pastry shops. 45 minutes to stroll the area before we meet up for our chocolate tour.

11:30 Modica Chocolate Tasting Tour

Modica Chocolate Tasting Tour
Corso Umberto I, 159 | 97015 Modica

Antica Dolceria Bonajuto

For six generations and more than 150 years it has been producing its chocolate by hand and passing down sweets and nougats from the Modican and Sicilian tradition.
During the tour, you’ll see how we make our chocolate bars from the cocoa beans and with the traditional cold process technique (which Bonajuto is famous for). Before we start there’s always some cold or hot chocolate to taste (depending on the weather!). Once the tour is finished, guests are welcome in our shop which is just next door.

14:00 Start Time

Much of the pleasure of visiting Scicli is derived from simply strolling past the magnificent architecture and soaking up the atmosphere. However, the following buildings definitely merit a visit. Start by getting your bearings in the very beautiful pedestrianised Via Francesco Mormino Penna, home to several Baroque palaces and churches, and a good place to sit and watch the world go by.
Palazzo Beneventano
This 17th century building is best known for its superb façade, complete with curved balconies, monstrous gargoyles, frills and follies. The palazzo is on Via Duca d’Aosta, close to Piazza Italia and Via Penna, but is not open to the public.
Palazzo Spadaro. Situated on Via Francesco Mormino Penna, Palazzo Spadaro dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries, and is home to several significant works of art. But its exterior is as beautiful as its interiors, adorned with balconies featuring geometric and floral motifs.
Montalbano in Scicli
If you enjoyed the detective Montalbano books and TV series, be sure to stop by the town hall, also on Via Mormino Penna, which was used as the fictional police station, the ‘Commissariato di Vigata’. Palazzo Iacono, in nearby Piazza Italia, was used as the exterior of the ‘Questura di Montelusa’, the fictional regional police HQ.
Scicli’s largest churches are the Chiesa Santa Maria La Nova and the 15th century Chiesa di San Bartolomeo.

2:30 pm Cannoli Tasting

Meeting Point
Via San Bartolomeo 10

Cannolia THE #1 HOT CANNOLI IN SICILY
We are the hot cannoli guys.
We started from the origin of the cannoli to let you enjoy the original flavor of the most famous Sicilian dessert in the world. We prepare the waffle with our little hands, fry it in sunflower oil and then fill it with pure ricotta processed only with sugar. We were born to bring the cannoli culture to the world.
Our aim is to make you eat better not only because we are attentive to your well-being but because we want you to discover the original flavors that industrialization has taken away from us.
Welcome to Cannolia , the delicious world dedicated to the typical Sicilian dessert. The hot cannoli experience is different: the wafer is freshly cooked and filled with a touch of ricotta over the edge.
The contrast of the ricotta or fresh cream enhances the flavor of the Cannolo, making it unique.
Enjoying a hot cannoli is an experience you will never forget! Cannolia is part of that golden Sicily where dreams take flight on butterfly wings.
It is an authentic Sicily where simple ingredients such as flour, cream and ricotta take shape to make your taste buds explode.
